I am seeking Beta Readers for my unreleased, in-progress works. I have created a Facebook group for folks to chat and mingle and discuss how much they liked or hated my work. I would prefer people interested in reading new work and not other writers. Once I send a piece off to Beta Readers, as far as I’m concerned, it’s mostly finished and I want to know if there are plot holes or inconsistencies. Most of the editing is finished.
What is a Beta Reader?
According to Wikipedia, “A beta reader is a test reader of an unreleased work of literature or other writing, who gives feedback from the point of view of an average reader to the author. A beta reader is not a professional, so that the opinion of an average reader can be heard. Usually, a beta reader will be unpaid.”
Why should I be a Beta Reader?
Some enjoy reading a work before it is published or released and others enjoy offering feedback to writers about their work; good, bad, or indifferent. It would be strictly voluntary and you can stop anytime you wish. You can comment on one story you read or you can read many stories. It is entirely your choice.
What do I get for being a Beta Reader?
At this moment, I cannot offer more than a free copy of a book once it’s published. You can also receive a free copy of any of my other published works. You’ll also receive my undying gratitude. Perhaps one day I can offer more than this, but for now, it is the best I can do.
How do I become a Beta Reader?
