What’s New Wednesday: June

You may have noticed I’m posting less on here. After posting one or two posts every day for over a year, I’ve decided to take a step back and focus on other things for a while. I’ll still try to post once a month. I will post an update or two while I’m at the Mad Monster Party Horror Convention next month. After I finish with the convention, I want to focus on finishing the first draft of my novel by the end of this year. I can easily finish sooner but I’m lazy and procrastinate a lot.

I also want to find new conventions to attend that don’t require a lot of travel on my part, so I can go to all the places. I’m writing more spooky poetry and once I have a surplus, I’ll start sharing things again. I plan to focus all my writing efforts on all my works in progress (which are all horror stories) and spooky poetry. That should keep me busy and satisfied. At some point I plan to continue some of my regular postings such as the book reviews and sharing my photography, but not for a while. I need a break. See you all next month.

Poetry Monday: Standing Before Jesus

I never wanted to hurt you
I never wanted you to cry
but I just couldn’t understand it all
I chose to take my own life

I went up to heaven
though I didn’t know why
I went and stood before Jesus
and he began to cry

he said, why’d you go and do it
condemn your soul to fry
standin’ there right in front of Jesus
I couldn’t muster the reply

he turned his back to me
knowing I couldn’t be saved
I fell to my knees in front of Jesus
Your sweetness was the only thing I craved

I have damned my soul to the fire
wishing I could try again
to go and stand before Jesus
and ask him to relieve Your pain

Snapshot Saturday: In the Shade

This was taken near the end of March 2020. Quarantine had been in place for a couple weeks. I was experimenting with the black and white setting on my camera. This helped me get more familiar with many of the settings as black and white photos require different exposure from color photos. This was on Fourth Avenue in Tucson, AZ. I like this shot because you can see a person in the shade but you can’t see any details about the person. The desert is a great place to get those dark and like contrasts, especially on bright spring days. I would consider this my first venture into street photography as well. This is one of my favorite shots I’ve taken.
