Throwback Thursday Poetry: The Reality of a Dream

with a smile so bright darkness is destroyed
i sit here and think of nothing but joy
my day began in a horrible manner
but now it seems none of that matters
you are my reason to continue on
you make me feel like nothing is wrong
all i seem to do is think of nothing but you
you’re like a new fad it’s driving me mad
take away your smile; your enchanting eyes
your humor and your intellect
somehow i still see something is there
this something it intrigues me
you may never know how i ponder of you
as long as these words are herd all will dream of you

Flashback Friday Poetry: Birth of Insanity

i’ve come to a point in my life where my dreams lie in shame
they speak to me in riddles, perhaps to hide the pain
the haunting nightmares every night make me feel deranged
i joke & play & pretend it away but everything’s the same

the evil thoughts in my mind i can’t seem to reverse
everything looks as though its headed for the worst
i’ve tried many remedies including going to church
i feel as though i’m turning into the Imp of the Perverse

i’ve made my mind up, there’s nothing you can change
no way you can stop me, not even locking my in a cage
persuade me all you want to, my mind you cannot sway
i’m the sick one here, don’t fear, do you want to come & play

Early poetry from James. From the poetry collection Pariah Bound: The Lonesome Poetry.
