We are rolling in hot to the new year. And that means there are new writing goals as well. I hope to have a couple more serialized short stories in the future but no news in that area for the moment. Poetry posts will be a little different this month and part of next month. You probably noticed yesterday’s poetry post titled “The Tales of Enderas.” This is a poem series I wrote many years ago and the remaining Monday and Tuesday posts will be part of this series. I don’t have many poem series so this is fun for me. Perhaps it will inspire more of these. Also, I began writing fiction for this same series using the poems to help outline my ideas. I may revisit this story and eventually post it on my blog.
Also, starting at the end of the month, I’m changing my Saturday posts. January 30 will begin the new segment Snapshot Saturday. I’ll share one or two photos I’ve taken and maybe describe each one. I’m finally taking some pride in my amateur photography. I have hundreds of photos to share as well. This will be an exciting new addition to the blog. I’m excited. Are you excited? I’m excited. For now, everything else is business as usual. There are two more installments of the “Yuletide Aviary” story so don’t miss those. Let me know how you feel about some of these new additions to the blog.
For the blog this month it’s business as usual. Not too many new things going on. I do hope to have another serialized story finished in time to start posting around the middle of the month. It’s titled Yuletide Aviary so it would be nice to have the first post fall around Yule. I think you’ll enjoy it. It’s about birds who help Santa and the elves. These are very adult birds, so this is not a story for children. I’ll have more details about that story later this month as it’s mostly an outline for the moment.
In other news, I haven’t posted much to my Instagram this year and was considering scheduling poetry posts again. I think the last one was back in May. I haven’t decided if I want to start that soon or wait until the new year. I feel I should focus on stories rather than Instagram posts. There’s not much else to talk about. I’m hoping to have lots of new things for the new year, but I haven’t planned that far ahead yet. Some things are too far away to worry about planning for now. As always, if there’s something you would like to see on this blog, please leave a comment. I never know if people actually read these posts or just like them and move on. I’d love to get something other than spam in my comments.
Not much is changing this month as far as the blog and website are concerned. It’s business as usual. Last year, I didn’t post anything for November. This month will be the best November with the most pageviews since I started this blog. However, pageviews are no longer growing like I hoped they would. Have viewers lost interest in most of my writing? Do things still need to build up more steam before they take off? We shall see. The serial fiction project “Hellpets” will also continue this month. The story will finish on Black Friday. I hope you’ve enjoyed it so far. Please tell me what you think in the comments.
As for things here at home, I plan to finish writing my first novel for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). I started it last November but only got about 25k words. I got more writing done during the quarantine days (remember way back when) and I now have about 55k words for my novel. I have about a third of the story left to write and the first draft will be finished. And then we procrastinate editing for the second draft. It will be a long and grueling process and I don’t want to think about it right now. Wish me luck as I attempt to finally finish something I started.
