Throwback Thursday Poetry: As She Reads

She sits there quietly
as if She’s waiting for something
perhaps someone
She reads to pass the time
no one else around Her has a book
they are occupied by other things
She is alone with a book
the book loses Her gaze now and then
when someone passes by
as if She’s waiting for someone
a sigh of impatience
a glance at the time
what is She waiting for
perhaps even She doesn’t know
She continues reading
while life passes by

Tuesday Poetry: Incurable Disease

some say obesity is a disease.
if this is true, than perhaps
stupidity too is a disease.
a disease of the mind like schizophrenia.
is there any medication for those
afflicted with the Stupid?
it used to be natural selection,
but modern science has eradicated
this cure and discovered unnatural Engineering.
the Stupid Disease grows more malignant
through genetics and childhood influences.
with its continuous, rapid growth
it is impossible to quarantine.
even public officials have been diagnosed.
the sad truth of the problem is
there is no cure and no hope for survival
