Poetry Monday: Meagles, Penses & Beazers…Oh My!

Here’s some nonsense poetry for your reading pleasure.

the tallest sray of a Meagle’s flay
is heard in Carperest Fowns
a Penses way with reagle clay
cannot keep his shrieving mown

with Penses and Meagles kept at bay
the Homelin can settle down
but with nothing else to lead away
the Limehon cannot be found

such is the way of the Beazer’s prey
the wish of not being found
but the Homelin isn’t led astray
and will bring that Beazer down

Meagles, Penses, Beazers and their prey
love the Limehon in the town
they hate the Homelin right to this day
for he wears the Human Crown

Coffee and Contemplation: Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman

I’m discussing only the book and not the Amazon Prime TV show. I did enjoy the show, but this post is about the book. This was fun to read and was the first Pratchett book I ever read. This caused me to be sucked into the Discworld books from which I will never escape. This was a fun read. It was goofy and quirky and an all-around good time. This is not a horror novel but there are many supernatural characters and supernatural elements. I also think it’s a fun book for teens and pre-teens to read.

There’s some adult humor but nothing crude or gross. There’s nothing scary in the book but maybe pre-teens won’t like some parts. The story follows an angel and a demon who become close friends on Earth. Their friendship begins at the Garden of Eden and the develop a system to help them both look good to their side of things but never gaining one way or the other. It’s a balance. And they both develop a liking to Earth and most humans. They even like it enough to stop the Apocalypse. It’s a fun Heaven and Hell story.

I recommend this book to everyone.

Snapshot Saturday: Callie

I usually take photos of my cat with my phone, but I decided to use my Canon for this one. It turned out great. You can feel the contempt in her eyes as she glares at something she feels has offended her. To be honest, that’s just her face. I was also pleased with how well this turned out in a low light setting. Because of the uncertainty of a cat’s movements, I had to act fast with this shot. There were a couple others that didn’t turn out well. Perhaps one day I’ll have an official photo shoot with my grumpy old cat lady.

Callie. Nov 2019. f/5. 1/200. 41mm.

Callie is a rescue. I adopted her on February 10, 2018. She’s a senior cat. She sleeps a lot and doesn’t play much. This is good for me. All she wants to do is sleep on my lap or chest. That’s our bonding time. And we have disagreements about how much food in the bowl is considered “enough.” She sleeps in the sun and doesn’t eat the house plants. She’d be the perfect roommate if she paid part of the rent.
