Coffee and Contemplation: World Tourism Day

Today is World Tourism Day. Today is also my birthday. I decided to take a trip to the Grand Canyon for my birthday weekend. The Grand Canyon National Park was free to enter yesterday, September 26. I spent the last couple nights in Williams, AZ about an hour South of the Grand Canyon on historic Route 66. I was told I had been to the canyon when I was young but have no memory of that trip.

This was a fun adventure for me as I’ve never done much for myself on my birthday. I had a nice little road trip. I explored some new places. And I got some great pictures. I’ve shared a few of them below. If you’ve never been, I recommend seeing the Grand Canyon at least once in your life. And all the towns nearby are fun to explore too. For any of you wondering, I turn 34 today. I hope to have another fun adventure next year.

National Ghost Hunting Day

Have you been on a ghost hunt? I don’t mean a game or party favor. I mean a legit, real ghost hunt. To celebrate those folks who enjoy lurking in abandoned houses and old chapels, National Ghost Hunting Day was started back in 2016. It happens every year on the last Saturday of September. And what perfect timing as that’s right when spooky season really takes off. Folks at nationalghosthuntingday.com organize the World’s Largest Ghost Hunt. Their premiere event. They have satellite teams throughout the country to coordinate the coast-to-coast simultaneous hunt.

Visit their website to learn how to participate or volunteer for next year. If you’ve ever wanted to live one of your favorite Scooby Doo episodes, or if you’re a fan of the Ghostfacers from the Supernatural TV show, now you have a place to do it. Get yourself into the spooky season and check out this National Ghost Hunt. Even if you think such things are a hoax, you can still have a spooky time with friends. So, go out there and keep it spooky.

Serial Fiction Starts Next Week

If you follow me on social media, you have heard by now that I have a new segment coming to this blog. Serial fiction begins on Friday, October 2. I’ve written a short story and broken it into parts. I’m releasing one part each week through the end of November. That gives me plenty of time to start working on the next story to serialize on my blog. Each part will be short and quick to read. As new parts are posted, I’ll link them to previous posts and the previous post will get linked to the new post.

Also, you’ll notice in the menu bar, a section where links to all the parts can be found. Check out the Serial Fiction Page to see the dates when all the parts are scheduled to post. This first serialization is titled HellPets. A Hellcat and a Hellhound learn to tolerate one another while working to guide and collect souls for the Underworld. They’re a spooky odd couple and they’re cute animals. What could go wrong? I hope to have many installments of these demon pets over the next couple of years. For now, this is chapter 1 starting next week. I hope you all enjoy.
