Twofer Tuesday Poetry: Trust Issues & Pendulum

Trust Issues

It’s a big deal
For me to tell
Someone I trust them
I don’t trust easy
And when I do
They prove me wrong
With each year that
Passes it takes longer
For someone to gain
My trust –
Losing old friends and
Gaining new ones but
Never trust anyone ever
Trust is earned not
Given but always lost
Never to be regained
Trust is hard to
Find and also hard
To keep –
I don’t trust myself

Pendulum

Rocking back and forth
Back and forth, back and forth
Got to keep moving to
Make the pain go away
And object in motion ages
Slower than an object at rest
Tears don’t swell as fast
In my eyes if I’m moving
Push the pain and the tears away
Rocking back and forth
Back and forth, back and forth
Just keep moving, just keep moving

Poetry Monday: Hating Yourself Only Hurts Those Close to You

You never see the fall
You see the struggles
Along the way but
You don’t see what
They do to you
And when they affect you
You don’t see what
You do to others
The ones who care
Are hurt the most
No matter how much
You hurt, it’s never
As much as how
Much you hurt them
Sometimes to heal
And to show how much
You love someone
You have to go away
To stop hurting them
And don’t come back
Until you love yourself

Sunday Sharing: e. e. cummings

This week’s Sunday Share is [i carry your heart with me(i carry it in] by e. e. cummings. I chose this poem because of its use of parentheses. It’s as if there are two poems in one. This poem inspired me to write one of my own, blending two poems into one with only parentheses separating each line. For copyright reasons, I have not included the entire poem in this post. Please follow the “Read More” link to read the entire poem.

[i carry your heart with me(i carry it in]

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
                                                      i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
