Tuesday Poetry: Airport Layover Blues

Spending ten hours at
The airport is not
On my list of things to do –
So I walk around with
My carry-on bag in tow
Jumping from coffee shop to
Restaurant to coffee shop
Periodically
Charging my phone and
My laptop at any
Available outlets –
What a glamorous
Adventure I’m having
In the SEA-TAC airport –
I have books to read
And work I can do
But what I want most
Is to leave the airport –
I see crowds of strangers
Coming and going
Each with their own problems
Worries and adventures
Each wishing to leave the
Travelers’ enclosure
