Wacky Wednesday: October 21

There are some interesting things to discuss today. We have a new list of words to go through. Many of these in the coming weeks are insults for people. Some of them like our first word are obsolete. Abydocomist is a noun meaning a liar or sycophant who boasts of his falsehood. Does that sound like anyone we know in the USA? Next is another noun. Bedswerver refers to someone who is unfaithful to the marriage vow. Again, does this sound like anyone we know in the USA? Tell me what you think of this new list of words in the comments.

Today has many holidays attached to it. The first occurs on the Wednesday of the third business week in October. That’s a mouthful. That is Medical Assistants Recognition Day. There are several holidays that occur on the third Wednesday of October. Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce DayHagfish Day celebrating the odd-looking creature, and BRA Day which recognizes Breast Reconstruction Awareness for those who have had the reconstruction after a mastectomy. Today is also National Reptile Awareness Day and the most important day, National Pumpkin Cheesecake Day. Observe one or all of these days in whatever way you wish.

And try out those new words in conversation. I do not recommend that you accuse anyone with one of those two words. It might not go well after you define the words for others.

Tuesday Poetry: The Final Dam Breaks Destroying Everything

Tears are coming
Can’t show them here
Hide in the bathroom
Recite the mantra
Tears come anyway
Epiphany
Self-image shattered
What am I
Broken, damaged
Never felt codependent before
Never understood it before
The questions answered
Reasons why found
People never wanted my help
Or took advantage
Their silence was my sadness
Their silence wasn’t about me
I knew there was a lesson to learn
Before things would go right
I didn’t know it was this
Questioning
What’s real, what’s in my head
All of it and none of it
What do I need
Love
Who do I need it from
Myself
I once told you
If they’re important to you
They’re important to me
I’m important to you
It’s time for me
To be important to me
My love for you isn’t real
If I don’t love myself

Poetry Monday: Time Always Leaves but Never Goes Away

And then I arrived –
I don’t know how I got there
Or where I came from
But I was there

Teacups melted time away
Drinkers mumbled some nonsense
A girl spun round and round
Or was she dancing –
A tree grew from the face
With trinkets hanging and dangling –
A rodent or some such looked my way

“What are you doing?”

“I’m thinking.” Said I.

“Why would you do an awful thing like that?”

I didn’t answer –
The girl stopped spinning
She looked up toward the tree
Then she looked at me
A tree arm gently raised her up
And she became a dangling trinket
The rodent spoke again

“I never said that, and you know it.”

Time melted into pools of paint
So many colors –
The rodent and the trinkets didn’t notice
Pools of paint climbed up everything
The things melted as time had
The face from which the tree grew
Had gone with time –
It was the face of time

Only I remained
Pools of paint crawling toward me –
Where had time gone
