Flashback Friday Poetry: Serenity

life is a series of moments
some moments better than others
when you’re seeking peace from within
you must find your serenity
you must find your favorite moment
the one moment like no other
remember what you felt within
this moment brings serenity
a certain day is my moment
one day i shared with another
so much joy broke out from within
such joy watching Serenity

Early poetry from James. From the poetry collection Pariah Bound: The Lonesome Poetry.

Throwback Thursday Poetry: Heart Broken

are you lonesome tonight
are you heart broke inside
did life just pass you by
in the blink of an eye
nothing left to do but
walk alone on the streets
your passion has been beat
you’ve lost all that you seek

when i was a child
i dreamed of just one girl
she had long jet-black hair
and eyes of mystery
but she was never real
she lived in fantasy
the only true love found
inside my head with me

the heart is a muscle
so what is love in this
is the love in one’s heart
a metaphor for bliss
when one is heartbroken
their heart’s not in pieces
their mind maybe shattered
but their heart is still beating

Early poetry from James. From the poetry collection Pariah Bound: The Lonesome Poetry.

Tuesday Poetry: I Grew a Beard Before it Was Cool

Once I was able, I grew out my beard
I had a full beard when I was 18
I tried goatees and mustaches
But I felt most comfortable with a beard
Always trimmed, never the hipster mountain man
I am the guy with the beard and the glasses
Around 2014, beards came back into fashion
Now almost every guy has a long, gross beard
I still keep mine trimmed
Everyone says I have a beard because it’s popular
I’ll still have a beard when it’s not fashionable
My beard will keep growing after I’m dead

From the poetry collection Cats, Coffee, Catharsis.
