Throwback Thursday Poetry: Heart Broken

are you lonesome tonight
are you heart broke inside
did life just pass you by
in the blink of an eye
nothing left to do but
walk alone on the streets
your passion has been beat
you’ve lost all that you seek

when i was a child
i dreamed of just one girl
she had long jet-black hair
and eyes of mystery
but she was never real
she lived in fantasy
the only true love found
inside my head with me

the heart is a muscle
so what is love in this
is the love in one’s heart
a metaphor for bliss
when one is heartbroken
their heart’s not in pieces
their mind maybe shattered
but their heart is still beating

Early poetry from James. From the poetry collection Pariah Bound: The Lonesome Poetry.
