Wacky Wednesday: September 23

It’s another wacky day here at the blog. We’ve got some extra gun words today and lots of holidays. Let’s see if we can get through them all. Our first word is a noun with a French origin. Salopettes are a one-piece garment similar to overalls, with a front flap and shoulder straps or a full sleeveless top, worn for skiing, sailing, etc. The next word is another noun that’s more fun to say but does not mean what it sounds like it means. Tittynope refers to a small quantity of something left over such as a few morsels or crumbs of food, or a few sips of beer left in a glass. It’s considered another form of tittle.

There are a lot of holidays today. Our usual food related holidays are National Great American Pot Pie Day and National Snack Stick Day. The most exciting holiday today has to be National Checkers Day/National Dogs in Politics Day. This day celebrates the many canines who have lived in the White House. There are a few holidays about health and wellness. Innergize Day is the day after the Autumn Equinox. It’s all about taking a day to relax not that Fall has started. National Teal Talk Day is about wearing something teal colored and talking with friends and family about ovarian cancer.

Restless Legs Awareness Day is about educating people about Restless Legs Syndrome which affects both children and adults. And finally, today is also Celebrate Bisexuality Day. If you are, or know someone who is, bisexual, today is the day to celebrate them for being who they are. Many people who identify as bisexual are criticized by both heterosexuals and homosexuals. If you’re bisexual, don’t be afraid to be who you are. And don’t let the critics get your down. They don’t have to understand you.
